C’è un caso con molti delitti e, finora, nessun colpevole. Il file “Scavi di Pompei” si infittisce, col sito archeologico trasformato in scena del crimine, una bomba a orologeria che prima o poi scoppierà. Così, nell’irresponsabilità diffusa, i delitti si moltiplicano e le pene spariscono. Oggi 8 settembre c’è stato un nuovo attacco al cuore di Pompei. Nel magnifico peristilio della Villa dei Misteri, infatti, una trave di legno di quattro metri si è staccata dal tetto alto cinque metri, per fortuna, senza danni. Ma è stata appunto la dea della fortuna ad impedire che, in una delle domus più celebri dell’area archeologica, accadesse una tragedia. La zona interessata dal crollo è aperta al pubblico e la villa è particolarmente affollata, dati i celebri affreschi che richiamano un antico rituale misterico, dal significato ignoto ma dal fascino ipnotico. Né deve rassicurare il fatto che l’episodio si sia verificato nella notte, in quanto l’incidente avrebbe potuto coinvolgere uno degli addetti alla vigilanza. La foglia di fico dietro cui si nasconde la SANP in questi casi è la vastità dell’area archeologica per cui, in definitiva, questi crolli sarebbero ineluttabili e imprevedibili. Eppure si tratta della Villa dei Misteri, il cuore anche simbolico di Pompei. Eppure anche ad un occhio poco esperto sono visibili le macchie di umidità sulle tegole e i pilastri accanto alla trave caduta, che presenta segni di marcescenza avanzati. Era davvero inevitabile questo ennesimo crollo? E, soprattutto, nessuno si era accorto dei segnali presenti nel sito? Le domande sono tante, le risposte troppo vaghe. Nell’era dei computer e della digitalizzazione della PA non si riesce a ottenere neanche la datazione dell’ultimo intervento nella Villa dei Misteri. Si accenna a lavori di restauro bloccati dal contenzioso amministrativo, ma riguardanti gli affreschi non la struttura. La sicurezza dell’area e l’incolumità di turisti e lavoratori evidentemente è un optional. E questo in piena attuazione del Grande Piano Pompei, modello per l’Italia e riscatto per il Sud. E la mappa delle domus a rischio? La villa dei Misteri vi rientrava? È un mistero, ovviamente, anche questo. Come la scoperta della Villa, che, pur essendo una delle più richieste dai turisti, è anche una delle più difficili da trovare. Arrivarci è una scommessa: non ci sono indicazioni se non quando si è ormai giunti alla meta, come premio per una caccia al tesoro degna di Indiana Jones; mentre in un altro paese questa sarebbe una delle perle del sito da tenere in evidenza. Anche gli intrepidi visitatori, che sono riusciti a percorrere strade secondarie e solitarie per conquistarla, si trovano, nel mezzo del cammino, davanti a un cancello che sembra marcare la fine del sito. Solo i migliori, però, leggeranno, oltre lo sbarramento, il malconcio cartello “Villa dei Misteri”, antico come la domus, seminascosto dalla vegetazione. Seguendolo, si giunge a una discesa ripida e sterrata, che dà sulla villa sormontata da un’abitazione moderna e col primo segno di decadenza visibile dall’esterno: una colonna di recente rovinata. Dopo il cedimento, l’area interessata è stata interdetta al pubblico e vi saranno verifiche ed interventi, col coinvolgimento di ditte esterne perchè, va da sé, gli operai non ci sono. Anche le ultime assunzioni annoveravano solo archeologi, architetti e un amministrativo. Di personale addetto alla manutenzione non vi è traccia. E questo, forse, ha qualche attinenza con lo stato del sito e la sua sicurezza. Ma questa, ovviamente, è solo un’ipotesi. Quanti approntano grandi piani, senza controllare la sicurezza minima della zona archeologica, avranno certo spiegazioni più articolate per i crolli e soluzioni rivoluzionarie per evitarli, mettendo Pompei a nuovo. E con 105 milioni della comunità europea non cambiare neanche una trave marcia nel soffitto sembra quasi una blasfemia. E poi quanti turisti desiderano venire ancora a Pompei con l’ allarme sicurezza? E soprattutto chi pagherà per questo? Come al solito sarà colpa di Giove Pluvio. Mente noi “festeggeremo” il secondo anniversario del crollo della Schola Armaturarum, quindi, tutto sarà come prima, anzi peggio. Perché le notizie dei crolli si susseguono, le immagini di rovina si sommano. Il requiem di Pompei suonerà di nuovo, dunque, mentre sarà il dio del tuono, come per gli antichi, a far crollare i tetti, laddove gli uomini, impotenti, continueranno a subire il loro destino, per essere stati incapaci di determinarlo.
